Job Purpose.

The successful candidate will partner with the operations team to drive operational excellence across the business by coordinating the management of planning & scheduling across operations for normal, abnormal & capital activities for both seasons and off crop.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities;

• Coordinate the management of planning & scheduling across operations for normal, and abnormal & capital activities for both seasons and off crop.
• Ensure standardized ways of work, systems and processes and technical compliance.
• Accountable to ensure all asset master data accuracy and enable decision-making and optimal maintenance strategy.
• Ensure compliance to work planning & control processes & systems.
• Manage delivery of integrated off crop planning calendar on time, in full and as per integrated Illovo Off crop standard.
• Support effective execution of off crop plan monitoring progress and providing information to manage and mitigate risks and adapt as required.
• Provide input into maintenance budget development and ensure maintenance plans align to budget.
• Enable and ensure effective maintenance execution through efficient maintenance planning.
• Ensure that the CMMS System and CBM System are clearly understood, controlled, and maintained, to consistently create awareness and motivate the benefits to all staff.
• Keeping with the overall objectives of the Company by ensuring the application of the Codes of Practice SABS ISO 9002, NOSA and identifying the quality training needs and the write up of procedures to continually improve the benefits of the CMMS system.
• Support the implementation of the “Illovo Way of Maintenance” (iAMP) to ensure Illovo is the best-in-class sugar & downstream producer.
• Hold teams accountable to the highest standards of maintenance, ensuring compliance to minimum operating standards.
• Identify L&D needs within the team and manage training through business partnership.
• Optimize maintenance performance, by holding planning department accountable to achieve the highest standards of efficiencies, quality, and agreed/required standards of planning & scheduling.
• Ensure adoption and embedding of best practices as guided by the Optimization Head
• Promote cross-functional and stakeholder engagement & teamwork.
• Model Leadership behaviors, collaborating, partnering and communicating effectively within and between teams and support functions.
• Promote a culture of consistently assessing risks and driving continuous improvement throughout operations.

• Provide operations wide view of work and resource requirements for in season and off crop that allows for the cost of implementation to be visible. Scoping and reprioritization where required.
• Integrate and coordinate section resource requirements for the season and off crop to optimize resource-leveling across the operation.

Job Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent
• 5 years' experience in maintenance and/or maintenance planning
• Strong organizing skills
• Good communication skills

Job Purpose
The successful candidate will provide direction, technical guidance and leadership in crop production and removal to ensure alignment with the strategic plan and sustainable long-term growth through interface with Optimisation and Agric Engineering. They will lead the crop estimating and production planning processes and interfaces in driving effective harvest planning and crop establishment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive operational excellence by making informed trade-offs and driving initiatives that will deliver the greatest possible yields at optimal cost and quality levels
• Adopt and embed agreed best practices, frameworks, minimum standards and processes for all aspects of crop production (and removal where relevant)
• With Group CoE’s identify best practices (internal & external) and review policies and procedures to improve yield and financial performance. 
• Contribute to reviewing Standards and operating procedures to sustainably improve yield and financial performance.
• Achieve yield forecasts (together with farm supervisors), ensuring that farming (and crop removal where relevant) activities are prioritised and planned in a systematic and cost-effective way to optimise profitability.
• Provide alignment between Crop Production Farms plans and Factory production Crush plans to achieve budget cane volumes and quality in line with S&OP
• Coordinate and approve annual crop production and harvest plans with farm managers, including crop establishment and husbandry across estate.
• Develop, monitor and manage cane production budget and resource plan, with inputs from farm managers and service departments.
• Drive rigorous performance management, biased towards rewarding strong performance and compliance with critical behaviours, and including managing consequences where required.
• Develop and implement a programme to Identify and address problems and improvement opportunities with Farm Managers
• Identify and implement sustainability initiatives such land and water conservation to prevent soils erosion, soil degradation, pollution and invasive weeds and to improve water footprint and quality,
• Drive synergies across the group, effectively partnering with optimisation function and group counterparts to identify, share and embed opportunities for optimisation.
• Provide input into business cases for key capital projects in Agriculture and support delivery.
• Oversee effective talent and performance management and build a strong leadership team and talent pipeline within crop production, by coaching, mentoring and guiding farm supervisors.
• Identify and monitor KPIs and balanced scorecards, track performance and flag any issues with individuals.
• Promote and adhere to Kilombero’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) that align with ABFSugar policies.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture / Agricultural Development / Agricultural Engineering.
• 10 years of experience in sugar cane agriculture and crop removal, including a minimum of 5 years in agricultural operations or in a technical advisory/subject specialist role at a middle-management level, responsible for a minimum of 3000ha.
• Proven track record of effectively developing and implementing strategies through managing budgets, people and resources to meet business KPIs.
• Good business acumen and agricultural expertise, with the ability to anticipate, interpret and respond to changes impacting all aspects of crop management.
• A formal business/commercial qualification would be an advantage.
• Strong agriculture data analysis skills.

Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible to perform proper analysis at reasonable amount of chemicals, ensure the equipment’s used are operating reliably and in an efficient manner.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

• The Laboratory Analyst ensure proper analyzing of boiler water, water treatment and water tower samples by following the procedure of each sample as per Laboratory Manual procedures.
• The Laboratory Analyst ensure proper reagent/chemical used for specific sample and reporting the expired reagent/chemical to laboratory Technician.
• The Laboratory Analyst ensure that the KPI are within their operating range by report this to his/her Laboratory technician.
• The Laboratory Analyst ensure the out specific range data is filled to non-conformance sheet as per working instruction and raise the Incident Report
• The Laboratory Analyst needs to ensure good housekeeping on the laboratory station. The walkway needs to be free of any hazard. Spillage and leaks need to be addressed as far as possible or reported and tagged. Cleaning of the station is to be done when necessary while ensuring that analysis is not interfered.
• The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for inspecting the instruments work with and report any damage observed.
• The analyst ensure he is taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by what you do or do not do.
• The analyst ensures reporting of any incident that may affect his/her health, or which has caused an injury to him, or impacted on the environment, He must report such incident to the superior not later than the end of the particular shift during which the incident occurred.
• Analyst is responsible to perform all tasks with “awareness” towards the prevention of any forms of pollution to the surrounding and environment.
• The Laboratory Analyst needs to ensure a proper handing over at the end of his/her shift.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Form Six (Science) or equivalent Laboratory Assistant Cours
•   Minimum 1year of experience in a similar job
•  Experience in sugar laboratory procedures will be an added advantage.
• Basic computer knowledge (excel, word, power point)
• Attention to detail and quality specifications.
• Has the knowledge and skills to interpret the analysis data results.
• Has the skills and knowledge to be able to check the laboratory instruments performance.

Job Purpose 
The successful candidate will be responsible for boiler Controls from DCS to ensure essential operational and safety Parameters are within range to assure adequate steam flow.

Specific job responsibilities: 

• Keep boiler operation parameters within specifications and consistent to enhance boiler long life.
• Keep boilers available at 45bars to guarantee steam & power generation and exportation to stakeholders.

• Control steam pressure, flow, water qualities and monitor all boiler performance parameters.
• Understand controls for environmental emissions ie, impacts of blowing safety valve and amount of flue gas out from the chimney.
• Boiler maintenance during breakdown and off crop and quick fixes on site when necessary.
• Monitor and react on critical alarms, communicate abnormal deviations/condition to the immediately concerned personnel.
• Perform Boiler prestart up inspection, daily Mobrey checks, and transmitter as per  as per SOP.
• Clear communication with other maintenance and operation partner (maintenance planner, CBM, instrument, electrical and operational) personnel to ensure maximum plant availability.
• Should always confirm instrument devices, electrical devices, mechanical devices and interlock are in functional state as per inspection plan.
• Adhere so Illovo safety standards.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Diploma in engineering preferred mechanical and electrical engineering, Bachelor degree will be an added advantage.
• Experience on water tube boilers of at least 20bars operating pressure
• At least 3 years’ experience with exposure to production environment, Operational experience in a factory, preferably a sugar factory.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop in-Country medium- and long-term Manufacturing (Production and Maintenance) Optimisation Strategy with objective of effectively optimizing performance and cost of production.
• Drive optimisation by driving initiatives that will deliver products at cost and quality levels that drive profitability.
• Drive operational excellence by implementing optimisation initiatives and supporting problem resolution.
• Identify, generate business case, motivate, plan and manage implementation of capital projects, ensuring required economic and community outcomes are delivered on time.
• Reduce system inefficiencies by analysing and maximising system performance (Reliability, Recovery, efficiencies, costs etc.) through application of continuous improvement tools and best practices such as RCA, LOP.
• Drive synergies across the Group, effectively partnering with Group counterparts to identify, share and embed opportunities for production & reliability optimisation.
• Provide expertise on production & reliability issues, support and advise on solutions.
• Set direction, implement and monitor continuous improvement by driving work practices, and ensuring that tools and techniques are being applied to optimise operations and deliver high quality products made in a safe and sustainable manner.
• Lead People Capability building identification, prioritization and implementation to optimise performance, realise full potential and maintain a state of operational readiness.
• Develop all production & Supply Side plans and monitoring of compliance to plans, in conjunction with S&OP.
• Drive rigorous performance management, biased towards rewarding strong performance and compliance with critical behaviours, including managing consequences where required.
• Conduct regular internal and external benchmarking exercises to identify and develop Production best practices and improvement opportunities.
• Manage and coordinate sharing of identified best practices, learnings, quick wins, frameworks and minimum standards within function across entities and through the Head Office platform, and provide additional opportunities for problem identification, knowledge sharing and collaboration.
• Custodian of manufacturing and laboratory information systems required for operational modelling, production reconciliation and business performance monitoring and leading the use of data for optimization decisions.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with key maintenance & engineering service providers.
• Build a strong technical team and talent pipeline for Manufacturing Optimisation through ongoing coaching, mentoring, guidance and technical training, using this platform to drive technical excellence in the production and maintenance teams.

• Ensure enablers are in place to promote success (e.g. systems and processes)
• Management of technical standards, MOPS, TOPS, process specifications, best practices and policies and the governance thereof.

• Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
