Kilombero is 75% owned by Africa’s largest diversified sugar and downstream products producer, Illovo Sugar Africa, with the Government of Tanzania owning the balance of shares. Illovo itself is 100% owned by Associated British Foods (ABF), a diversified international food, ingredients and retail group with sales of £17 billion, 132,000 employees and operations in 53 countries across Europe, southern Africa, the Americas, Asia and Australia. ABF’s global sugar and other business-related interests, including Illovo, are currently represented by AB Sugar, a wholly-owned division of ABF.
