The successful Candidate will be responsible to ensure that the Water Treatment Plant is well managed to ensure that the desired grades and quantities of water are produced to match the requirements of the distillery and associated utilities. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- . Ensures that the Water Treatment Plant is efficiently operated such that the distillery’s water requirements are consistently met in terms of quality and quantity.
- Process deviations and equipment breakdowns are attended to timeously to ensure the efficient running of the plant.
- The water treatment plant’s performance, safety, housekeeping, quality and environmental standards are achieved and maintained at all times co-ordinating such activities as necessary with the Production Team Lead.
- The required information is logged down, captured on computer (if necessary) and communicated to the Production Team Lead.
- All receipts of raw materials into the plant and alcohol leaving the site must be properly recorded and forwarded on shift basis to the Logistic Foreman.
- Ensure all processes are executed in accordance with ISO 22000 and local good practices for safety, health, environment and quality. This specifically includes the use of required personal protective equipment and ensuring all plant operations are executed with safety in mind.
- Operates the Water Treatment Plant efficiently.
- Critical tasks of this position are to follow the prescribed procedure for:
- Backwashing of the filters
- Checking of chemical stock level
- Regeneration of the softener
- Regeneration of demineralised water units
- Records relevant data on log sheet and/or logbook on the required time interval.

- Inspect equipment as per checklists timely and submit to a section planner.
- To ensure planned maintenance of mechanical equipment are executed timely.
- To conduct off crop maintenance/overhauls as planned.
- Carry out agreed monitoring, sampling & analysis routines to identify & escalate non-conformances in a timely manner.
- Close relationship and communication with operation team to enable timely troubleshooting of equipment breakdown.
