Job Purpose
To ensure the earthworks , major civils and building construction is in accordance with the Employers Requirements in the Contract, Preserve the Employers interest that As-Built drawings are generally in accordance with accepted international construction norms and standards as well as to Support the Project Site Execution Manager and Project Services Specialist to ensure quality approved construction drawings are in place and have been reviewed by the Employer.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop a working relationship with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contractor to be able to develop an opinion of quality of site work.
  • Ensure no basis for an EPC Extension of Time or Variation in cost claim wastewater engagement processes and decisions.
  • Understand the resourcing in terms of plant and resources with the Project Service Specialist and predict outcome in accordance wastewater schedule and quality assurance
  • Fully understand the earthworks, mass concrete, piling , civils and buildings execution program status, risks and variances.
  • Ensure internationally accepted quality and procedures for construction for the above are met as laid out in the Employers Requirements in the Contract and are in accordance with internationally accepted standards.
  • Track and monitor all Witness and Hold point activities identified in conjunction with the Project Site Execution Manager and ensure appropriate resources are timeously engaged and mobilized,
  • Access and confirm concrete strength test results and advise Project Site Execution Manager on any non-conformances and corrective steps to be taken.
  • Ensure building constructions are of a quality acceptable to the Employer in accordance with the Employers Requirements. Specific notice taken of rain run-off, storm water systems and effluent
  • Ensure construction of wastewater, effluent and sewerage systems are constructed in a manner ensuring long term functionality.
  • Ensure the construction of the molasses bladder is executed in accordance with the OEM standards and on time.
  • All activities at height are in accordance with Safety requirements of the Employers SHERQ standards and regulations.
  • Ensure security fence installed as the final fence is in accordance with the Employers Requirements and is professionally installed.
  • Promote and adhere to Project charter, policies and guidelines including, without limitation including those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
Job Qualification and Experience
  • Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering / Project Management.                       
  • 3 to 5 + years' experience in mass concrete/ piling / building and major structure constructions.
  • Large scale EPC project management and implementation experience.
  • Ability to interpret Execution Schedule and commensurate plant and personnel requirements.
  • Ability to work in culturally diverse environment.

Job Purpose
To receive and verify all goods from receiving section against GRN’s and the physical binning of all incoming goods according to specifications and quality requirement in the correct bins and locations.
To receive reservations from users and issue items authorized by requisitioner to ensure that goods are issued to the correct department.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identifies and collects goods from the stores bins by following the first in first out policy and updating the stores bin cards by recording the quantity issued and the stock balances, as a service delivery
  • Issues goods to users by counting, weighing, or measuring them to ascertain the correct quantity against the requisitioned quantity and ensuring the requisitioner signs on the requisition to acknowledge receipt of the issued goods.
  • Captures all issues and return notes into the ERP system daily to update stock records and archives accordingly.
  • Identify stock on hand discrepancies and flag to the Inventory Operations Specialist for consideration during stock adjustments.
  • Identify items that are deteriorating in quality or have expired and flag these goods to the Inventory Operations Controller as a possible recommendation for obsolescence –
  • Report to the Inventory Operations Controller MIDs which are out of stock, but on demand for replenishment daily.
  • Ensure goods that are to leave the operations are issued out with the appropriate documentation (i.e. gate pass)
  • Ensure that special stock is always kept under controlled security.
  • Advises users about receipt of Order as required (OAR) items to ensure all goods are collected within 30 days in accordance with Illovo audit requirements.
  • Print daily issues report and promptly deal with issues raised by engaging with relevant stakeholders.
  • Review issuing procedures and recommend changes to improve efficiency and productivity.

  • Strong communication skills with experience in engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

Job Purpose
The Irrigation Team Lead is responsible for controlling and coordinating the quality of irrigation operations and assists management in the development of irrigation plans to ensure long-term growth development and sustainability as well as Implement the “Illovo Way of sugar cane production” to ensure Kilombero is the best-in-class sugar producer in the Country.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise irrigation activities, through the inspection of irrigation lines/furrows on each field given to each individual.
  • Controls work performance by recording daily attendance, irrigation cycles, irrigation scheduling and pressure monitoring.
  • Ensure that work standards are adhered to by allocating task to his/her gang and recording man-days used per activity.
  • Responsible for safeguarding the crop by reporting any unusual occurrences i.e. fire, floods, smut, weeds, pests in the field, theft etc.
  • Manages team performance and conduct.
  • Ensure irrigation lines have been placed in the correct locations by physical inspection of all irrigation lines after every shift.
  • Ensure complete number of irrigation equipment to comply with field geographical position by taking field inventory and Ensure irrigation lines are shifted as per set standards.
  • Ensure good system arrangement to stabilize overlap uniformity by ensuring correct spacing of irrigation lines and use of correct irrigation equipment e.g. sprinkler and nozzles etc.
